Together, building a brighter future for our children.

Reopening Late Spring 2026
We’re beyond excited to share that Spark! Children’s Museum has officially secured a new permanent home—a major milestone in our journey and a powerful step forward for our community.
As we prepare for this exciting next chapter, the museum will be temporarily closed to the public while construction is completed, occupancy approvals are secured, and our team partners with donors to bring an all-new exhibit master plan to life. This intentional pause allows us to thoughtfully create a vibrant, interactive space designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection for years to come.
Construction and permitting are currently underway at our future location:
201 2nd Avenue South, in downtown Great Falls
This move marks a significant expansion of our mission to provide meaningful, hands-on play and learning experiences for children and families across the region. From layout to exhibits, we’re reimagining the museum from the ground up—building a space that reflects the way families learn, play, and explore together.
We are actively working toward a late spring 2026 reopening, pending construction and permitting timelines. Behind the scenes, our team is designing engaging exhibits, dynamic programs, and immersive experiences that will make Spark! Children’s Museum more inspiring than ever before.
As reopening approaches, we’ll be sharing updates on memberships, admission pricing, birthday parties, parking, and more. We’re building something truly special—and we can’t wait to open the doors and welcome families back into a space created just for them.
To preview what’s ahead, a map of our new location and renderings of the future museum space are included below.

A Walk Down Memory Lane
1999 -- With support and funding from the City of Great Falls, the Children's Museum of Montana was able to move into it's first home a historic building owned by the city at 22 Railroad Square.
2017 -- After nearly two decades in it's original location and following discussions with the city, the board formally began exploring options for a new permanent home for the Children's Museum.
2024 -- After careful consideration and in light of significant maintenance needs, the Children's Museum of Montana made the decision to cease operations at 22 Railroad Square and focus its efforts on securing a new permanent home.
2026 -- We are hopeful to reopen in late spring of this year, but we need your support. Many of our exhibits were unable to move to the new location due to age and deferred maintenance. If you would like informaiton about sponsoring an exhibit, please contact us at hello@sparkmt.org.

1997 -- A group led by the Junior League of Great Falls established the Children's Museum of Montana, initially delivering educational-focused pop-up play experiences throughout the city.
2000 -- The Children's Museum of Montana launched its annual capacity-building fundraiser, Chocolate Noir, to support and expand its services to the community.
2020 -- Like organizations everywhere, the Children's Museum was significantly impacted by COVID-19 and was required to pivot quickly, implementing adjustments that allowed it to continue offering a fun, collaborative, and exploratory environment for families while meeting all government safety guidelines.
2025 -- A new location at 201 2nd Avenue South was secured as the Children's Museum's future home, and with this transition, the Children's Museum of Montana was rebranded as Spark! Children's Museum of Montana. The Board viewed the rebrand as a natural fit - reflecting Great Falls' identity as the Electric City and reinforcing the Museum's mission to Spark! the joy of learning.

We love it here! We opted for a membership and are so glad we did! Our kids ask to come all the time. There is so much for the kids to do and we love getting in on the play. There is a lending library, a little cafe to snag a coffee (and a play one upstairs for your littles to pretend they made it for you 😜). The staff is always so kind and friendly. Highly recommend.

Nice place to let the kids explore and use their imagination. We went there regularly before our kids were school aged and will likely keep going at least once or twice a month as it's a nice indoor area for the kids to play and get out of the summer heat and winter snow.

An awesome place for our toddler to spend a morning. There are so many little stations with different themes which was great for our child to do various imagination type plays. Don't forget the second levels which tons of extra plays. Admissions is good for the entire day with the possibility of reentry. Free parking outside.
